Daily Service Positions
Service Term
All service positions for the Main Room are for one calendar month, from the first day of the month to the last day of the month.
How to Sign Up
If you’re signing up for the first time, please speak with us after the meeting prior to signing up.
Please review the descriptions below.
To sign up as a Main Room Chair, email service@globaleyeopener.org about one week before the beginning of the month. Please include which days of the week you are available.
For other positions, either talk to the Chair or add your own name to the Service Roster.
When doing service, we suggest please signup for our email list
Chair
Suggested sobriety: 90 days
Please arrive at least 15 minutes early
Duties:
A few days before the 1st of the month, let the service coordinator know which days you’re available to chair
Please familiarize yourself with the meeting script for the day you signed up for
Recruit volunteers at the start of the month to fill any open service roles (Tech Host, Screen Sharer, etc)
10 minutes before the start of the meeting, check to see if volunteers are present. Fill any vacancies
When volunteers or a booked speaker are absent, please avoid naming them by name. Instead focus with kindness on finding a replacement.
Chair the meeting
Stick to the script
Acknowledge shares with a thank you
Avoid cross talk. Please do not comment on shares, even positively.
Please embrace silences between shares without feeling anything needs to be said. If the chair chooses, the chair may call on people to share, when there are no hands.
Key an eye on the clock. Move to the closing script no later than 3 minutes before the end of the meeting.
We suggest either print your script or bring it up on a second device to make it easier to read.

Tech Host
Suggested sobriety: 90 days

Duties:
Manages the software and settings we use in our meetings
Assigns co-hosts
Handles technical problems (mute noisy mics, distracting video, bombers)

Tech Co-Host
Suggested sobriety: 90 days
Please arrive at least 15 minutes early
Duties:
Assists with the waiting room
Assists with technical problems (mute noisy mics, distracting video, bombers)

Chat Host
Suggested sobriety: none
Please arrive 15 minutes early
Duties:
Please familiarize yourself with the meeting script for your day
As the chair reads , follow along looking for Chat Host instructions which appear in gray boxes
Copy and paste chat box messages from the meeting script into the chat box at the appropriate times as the meeting progresses
Manage the chat box settings
Set chat to “HOST AND CO-HOSTS ONLY” at the appropriate time as described in the script
Monitor messages in the chat box during the meeting
Set chat to “EVERYONE AND ANYONE DIRECTLY” at the appropriate time as described in the script

Screen Sharer
Suggested sobriety: 30 days
Please arrive 15 minutes early
Duties:
Open each piece of AA literature we read in a browser tab in advance
The daily script will let you know what you need. Please follow along as the chair reads to know when to share.
Remember to close personal documents before sharing
Laptop or desktop computer is suggested. This service role cannot be performed on a phone.
Consider using full screen mode for a clean view with no distractions.
During literature meetings, after reading, update literature bookmarks
Spiritual Timekeeper
Suggested sobriety: none
Please arrive 15 minutes early
Duties:
Time speaker and shares as requested by the Chair
We suggest using a stopwatch app on your phone. Gently display remaining time on your video for the last 15 seconds.
Screen share the “time’s up sign” when time has elapsed
Stop sharing the “time’s up sign” when the person speaking acknowledges it
